Three years ago, when I returned to live in Asturias, I met Isme. She had just arrived from Ecuador, the same country I had left not long before. It felt like magic — both of us were discovering Asturias at the same time: for me, it was a return, and for her, it was the first encounter.
What surprised us even more was a beautiful coincidence: her aunt, Matico, had woven some of the textiles used in Allpamamas, a project I had worked on years before in Ecuador. That connection felt like a sign that our paths were meant to cross.
Isme learned embroidery at the age of six. She still remembers decorating her first blouse for her kindergarten graduation, guided by the loving hands of her grandmother. For her, embroidery has always been more than just a craft — it is a way of expressing her inner world, her emotions, and her thoughts.
For this collection, we decided to work with ancestral symbols from our culture. The spiral — a symbol of movement, evolution, and the cycles of life. It represents transformation, expansion, and the continuous journey of becoming.
Each piece we created is embroidered with natural stones. These stones carry powerful energies, and for us, wearing them close to the skin or stitched into our clothing feels deeply meaningful. It is a way of carrying protection, history, and beauty.
Working with Isme has been a magical collaboration, one that celebrates roots, transformation, and the sacred act of creating by hand.
